In the anniversary year of 2023, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas Saginov, in connection with the expansion of the activities of departmental scientific and technical centers (STC), a decision was made to open the STC «STU-ENGINEERING».

The head of the STC was appointed and remains to this day Balabaev Oyum Temirgalievich (Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor (Docent) in the specialty “Transport, Mining and Construction Machinery Engineering”).

STC «STU-ENGINEERING» creates a unique ecosystem where the teaching staff (faculty) and students (doctoral students, master’s students, and undergraduates) are actively involved not only in scientific research projects but also in real expert-engineering works. This ensures a “seamless” integration of theory and practice, contributing to the training of a new generation of qualified specialists. Today, the STC is a team of highly qualified specialists, including Doctors and Candidates of Technical Sciences, PhDs, Masters of Science, design engineers, project engineers, and process engineers.

The main tasks of STC «STU-ENGINEERING» are:

- Organization and conduct of fundamental, theoretical, and applied research;

- Organization and performance of scientific research, design, engineering, survey, and expert works, as well as expert-engineering services;

- Development of new equipment, technologies, and information systems;

- Commercialization of the results of scientific activity;

- Training of students under standard and individually developed programs (internships for doctoral and master’s students); advanced training and internships for university teaching staff; advanced training and internships for employees of various organizations and industrial enterprises;

- Development of the material-technical, scientific-methodological, and scientific-technical base through modernization of existing and acquisition of new educational-scientific equipment;

- Expansion of international relations and scientific contacts with scientists from leading universities and research centers in near and far abroad (conclusion of memorandums, opening of representative offices, etc.);

- Organization and conduct of seminars and scientific conferences.
